Andrew Bucci
Andrew Bucci (1922-2014) was among Mississippi’s most accomplished and beloved artists. Born in Vicksburg, he attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago from 1947-1954, and continued to create for the rest of his life. While his most recognizable pieces are watercolors on paper, he also worked in needlepoint, silkscreen, and oils on canvas. He lived most of his adult life in Maryland, but maintained his Mississippi ties closely, always contributing to the Mississippi arts community. Throughout the decades, he drew inspiration from a variety of sources, especially nature and the human face and form while always maintaining his own distinctive style.
