Michelle Allee is a Gulf Coast artist who resides in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Primarily a self-taught artist, she has been instructed in various art techniques internationally. Michelle has exhibited her work for several galleries in Arizona, Texas, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Mississippi, and Louisiana.
As one of five children, Michelle’s family has seen their share of hardships. A common phrase among her siblings is, “I can be there for you, but I can’t wear the crown.” “This idea that we all have some royalty in us, the power to overcome any circumstance, and reach the joy on the other side is what I wish to convey to my audience. In these androgynous figures, viewers are able to see their loved ones or themselves and visualize whatever emotion they wish to conjure. With the complexity of textures and the universality of these symbols, my paintings create a simple framework that allows the viewer to articulate their own vision.”
