I paint because I love the “doing of it.”

Edwina Goodman

Edwina Goodman’s paintings are distinctive for their strong colors and sense of immediacy.  Naturally curious, Goodman enthusiastically explores expression in different forms, from abstraction to landscapes to still lifes.

Goodman’s first art instructor was renowned watercolorist John Gaddis. Since she began painting, she has studied with many nationally and regionally recognized artists such as Robert Wood, Carrie Brown, Doug Walton and Frank Webb. She has won numerous first place awards at distinguished juried exhibitions including Mississippi Watercolor Society’s Annual Exhibition and the Magnolia Fine Arts Competition.

Artist Statement:

I paint because I love the “doing of it.” Seldom do I look at a blank sheet of watercolor paper without experiencing a genuine excitement. There are so many ways to represent subject matter and I derive great pleasure from working in abstractions as well as more traditional approaches. Color is usually the driving force behind my paintings. If the color is right – all is well. Also, I’m more concerned about what I see appearing on the paper than I am with how the subject really looks.
